ANNAKKARA THE SPICE VILLAGE



Anakkara,otherwise known as spice village, is one of the most beautiful village in Idukki dist KERALA.

ANAKKARA is nested in the sylvan hills of Western Ghats, and plantations forms an immense green carpet that sweeps over hills and valleys. The plantations have created an impressive profile for itself. The rich and varied flora, fauna and cultural heritage of this place are ideal and perfect. The expansive loamy plantations of coffee, tea, pepper and fragrant cardamom seen side-by-side with natural vegetation are primary attractions and exchange natural splendour. Of all the Spices of the East, none perhaps rivals the cardamom in aroma flavour, texture and use, and recognized internationally for it’s unparallel quality size and flavor. The mist clad hills and valleys lush tropical vegetations, high cliff with sylvan cascade, panoramic view of TamilNadu plains give Anakkara an idyllic and distinctive charm and beauty.


ETP: Govt. of India and UNDP jointly identified 36 destinations over 20 states in India to promote rural tourism, by developing its traditional tourism potentialities, under Endogenous Tourism Project.Anakkara is one of the four villages selected from Kerala, considering its immense potentialities for developing as a Spice Tourism Centre.
